The source of coffee
- Robusta - Arabica
There are an estimated 25 million people in the world whose livelihood directly depends on coffee plantations. Coffee bushes are grown over approximately 1.2 million hectares on a planetary scale, a surface larger than all of Portugal! All the coffee-producing countries are located in a zone between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn, providing crops with warm, humid conditions and constant temperatures. Average temperatures range from 20°C to 23°C and precipitations vary from 1,500 mm to 1,800 mm per year. Arabica coffee plantations are located in the mountains or on plains, while Robusta is exclusively grown on plains.
